About the event
In this workshop, participants will explore the geometric principles of Islamic tilework and their connection to Islamic cosmology and philosophy. Using the lumen printing method, an alternative photographic process involving sunlight and organic materials, participants will create paper tiles inspired by traditional patterns. Each participant will choose between two tile shapes: the interlocking cross or the eight-point known as Rub El Hizb star. Using natural materials like flowers, plants, and string, they’ll craft symmetrical, symbolic designs. The session will culminate in a collective mosaic, reflecting nature's order and harmony through Islamic geometry.
