Exploring Narratives through Blackout Writing

About the event

This workshop introduces participants to blackout writing, a creative technique where selected words are kept and others blacked out from a printed text to form new phrases, poems, or narratives. Using the classic Islamic novel "Hayy ibn Yaqzan" by Ibn Tufail, participants will reflect on the original work while crafting their own interpretations. The session concludes with a group reading.

Language: Arabic

What will you learn?
Participants will take an experimental approach to the themes of "Hayy ibn Yaqzan"'s novel, and explore "Blackout Writing" as a new method to incorporate into their creative practices.

Who is it for?
