Virtual Coral Lab

This 10–15 minute walk-in experience invites visitors to immerse themselves in the KAUST Coral Probiotics Village through a detailed virtual reality journey. Using a high-resolution 3D model developed by the KAUST Visualization Core Lab in collaboration with the Marine Microbiomes Lab and Sandin Labs at UC San Diego, participants will explore one of the Red Sea’s most innovative living reef laboratories. With guidance from KAUST marine experts, visitors will discover the importance of coral reefs, the threats posed by bleaching, and the groundbreaking research being done to protect and restore these vital ecosystems.
