About the event
This poetry reading session will feature two excerpts from Etel Adnan's book "The Sun on the Tongue", a philosophical reflection on love, art, nature, and human existence. Etel Adnan, the internationally renowned Arab American writer and visual artist, crosses genres, continents, and centuries in her literary texts, plays, poems, and art.
The session will open with “A Library Set on Fire", a poem that highlights the connections between cultural practitioners. The second excerpt, from the opening pages of “There: In the Light and Darkness of the Self and the Other", delves into themes of duality, existence, and the complex relationship between past and present.
Afterward, a reflective walk through AlMidhallah will offer participants the opportunity to connect the themes of Adnan’s poetry to the surrounding art and the Biennale’s theme, “And All That Is In Between”, and write their own reflections.
The session will conclude with the group sharing their reflections. This will be a time for introspection expression, and connection, exploring how poetry can shape our understanding of art and the world around us.
