Making a Leather Shadow Puppet

About the event

The Turkish shadow theatre, known as "Karagöz," is an ancient art form dating back to the Ottoman era.

In this workshop, participants will learn how to create their own Karagöz figure using traditional methods. The session begins with an introduction to the art of carving and working with camel leather to craft the figures.

The group will be divided into smaller teams, with each team working on different parts of the puppet. At the end of the workshop, the groups will come together to assemble the complete figure.

Participants will make a puppet made of leather while explore the theory behind Karagöz and its cultural significance.
