This lecture offers a comprehensive exploration of the Arabian Peninsula’s pivotal role in the emergence of Islam and its lasting influence on Islamic art and architecture. It is divided into three different parts.
In the first part, Maya Kamareddine, Lecturer of Architecture at Effat University will introduce the historical and cultural significance of the region as the birthplace of Islam and a central hub for the development of diverse architectural traditions. Her presentation will highlight the stylistic evolution and symbolic depth of Islamic architecture across different periods and geographies.
The second part will feature student-led presentations, where participants will showcase their research through posters, focusing on iconic Islamic monuments. This segment is designed to encourage peer learning and foster a deeper appreciation of the artistic and cultural legacy of Islamic architecture.
The final hour will be dedicated to an open Q&A session, allowing for interactive dialogue and reflection on the themes discussed.
