About the event
This screening will present the Library through two short films, both in its historic context and contemporary operation.
The first film, produced by Jerusalem curator Jack Persekian in 2018 as part of the permanent exhibit in Jerusalem, places the Library at the centre of a confluence of time, place and people that is recounted by today’s Library staff and Waqf Administrators in the context of a continuous process of renewal and community insertion.
The second film, produced by young Jerusalemite film-makers Dina Dana and Idriss Khalidi, focuses on the role of AlKhalidi Library and two other private manuscript collections in preserving the cultural heritage of Jerusalem.
Language: English and Arabic
What will you learn?
Participants will learn about AlKhalidi Library’s historical significance and ongoing role in cultural preservation and the impact of private manuscript collections in Jerusalem.
Who is it for?
This is for anyone interested in the cultural history of Jerusalem, Palestinian heritage, archival preservation, and the power of film in documenting lived experiences.
