Iraq’s Invisible Beauty

Latif al-Ani, known as the father of Iraqi photography, began his career in the 1950s, documenting the rise of modern Iraq for the Iraq Petroleum Company's magazine. Now 86, he has captured the country's rich heritage, much of which has been lost to war. Recently recognized as a major photographer by the West, he revisits the sites of his earlier photos in this poignant documentary, sharing his archive and stories with today's Iraqis, many of whom are astounded by his depiction of their country.
