About the event
Over a period of twelve years, internationally recognized photographer Peter Sanders traveled throughout China to capture images of Chinese Muslims and their unique spiritual culture. This civilization began only sixty years after the Hijra, when Saad ibn Abi Waqqas and other companions of the Messenger of God settled in this majestic land at the invitation of the Tang Emperor.
This talk, co-delivered by Peter and Haji Noor Deen, will seek to explore the historical connection between Islam and China and its contemporary cultural influence through the most comprehensive photo essay produced on Chinese Islamic Civilization.
