Crafting Tradition: Musnad Alphabet Necklace

About the event

In this workshop, participants will design and create jewelry using gemstones and Musnad script-inspired charms. Musnad is an ancient South Arabian alphabet that was used in Dhofar, located in southern Oman, as well as parts of Saudi Arabia and Yemen. Dhofar is home to unique languages and a rich cultural heritage that has been preserved through generations.

Fatima Al-Najjar, a researcher with a Dhofari father and Filipino mother, will guide participants through the process, bringing a unique cultural perspective shaped by her diverse heritage. Her work focuses on reconnecting with her Dhofari roots, preserving ancient traditions, and celebrating her people’s heritage.

All materials for the workshop will be provided.

What will you learn?
Participants will design necklaces with their initials in the Musnad alphabet.

Who is it for?
This is for anyone interested in jewelry-making.
