About the event
This mixed-method workshop, part archival, part technical, invites participants to reflect on how care is expressed, remembered, and passed down through generations. Drawing from their own family albums, participants will explore the intimate role of photographs as archives of care.
In the first half, participants will reflect on the social history of family albums and create collages using text and copied images to express their family’s unique definition of care. In the second half, they will learn how to use a large format camera to create a new family portrait, exploring how composition, lighting, and style shape meaning.
The final portrait, developed and printed after the session, will become a tangible addition to their family archive, representing a personal and visual interpretation of care.
