About the event
In this hands-on workshop, participants will explore the symbolic and material connections between clay and bread, while engaging in making stamps, shaping bread, and reflecting on the act of breaking bread together.
Following Kourbaj's way of using found objects, participants will create their own stamps, inspired by the tradition of bread stamping in the Levant.
Playing on the organic conversation between the shape of the plate, the shape of the bread, and the messages on each of them, participants will weave a poetic response to the symposium's thematic structure, the four times of the day:
Day 3: Afternoon – “Gaila” and the Ritual of Rest: Tea, coffee, and the importance of repose in cultural context.
Language: English and Arabic.
What will you learn?
Participants will explore Kourbaj's artistic practice, and the use of food and found objects in contemporary art.
Who is it for?
This workshop is for artists, designers, and anyone interested in the symbolic and material connections between clay, bread, and imprinting.
