الطارق – An Ongoing Journey and Research into Tribal Musical Traditions across the Arab World - Performance by Tarek Atoui

In this sonic performance, the artist and composer layers different sounds to create an index of social relations and networks of musical performance and innovation. The sonic journey guides the audience through a variety of locales, from bustling souks to joyous weddings and intimate music salons in places such as Abha, Ouarzazate, Essaouira, Marrakesh, Bahrain, Kuwait, Sharjah, and Oman. His installation and research work الطارق Research into Tribal Musical Traditions across the Arab World (2022–ongoing) can be found in exhibition hall B1 and in the Research and Search section in the mezzanine of the same hall.

Atoui’s presentation includes samples from the Saudi Trouq Archive, kindly loaned by the Saudi Music Commission and Theatre and Performing Arts Commission.
