AlMadar Tour: Qatar National Library

In this tour, Dr. Huseyin Sen, the Historical Maps Specialist at the Qatar National Library, offers a unique opportunity to delve deeper into the manuscripts displayed in AlMadar galleries. Through an in-depth exploration of various objects like rare manuscripts, maps, navigation tools, and their historical contexts, participants will gain a greater understanding of their cultural and historical significance. One of the highlights is the Poem on the Stars, which a short verse text, attributed to one of the sons of the renowned astronomer Abdulrahman al-Sufi, describing both the classical Ptolemaic conventions and Arabian Bedouin traditions for naming and visualizing the stars.

The tour will begin by gathering participants in the Public Programs building before proceeding to the galleries.
